Invermere
Columbia River
The mighty Columbia River is the largest river to flow into the Pacific Ocean from North America. The section of the river we are exploring meanders through one of the most important and protected landscapes in British Columbia: the Columbia River Wetlands. Nestled between the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges, these wetlands provide essential habitat for hundreds of different animal species. Start out along the shore of Windermere Lake, travel down the Columbia into its turquoise glacier-fed waters, and continue through the diverse ecosystems that make up these wetlands.
