The Karura Forest Reserve is one of the world's largest forests located within a major urban center — spanning an area of more than 1,000 hectares in the heart of Kenya's capital city Nairobi. These winding forest trails in excess of 50 kilometers provide a much needed escape from urban Nairobi to both residents and visitors. Set out from the caves used as hideouts by Mau Mau Freedom Fighters, wade through the wetlands and finish at a stunning 20-meter waterfall deep in the Karura River Valley.
