Big Branch Marsh
Welcome to Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge; a thriving ecological sanctuary, and a haven for species whose habitat in southern Louisiana depends on healthy waters. With over 18,000 acres of freshwater and brackish marsh, cypress-tupelo forest, bayous and savannah, the refuge is an important home for abundant birdlife. Traverse a cypress-lined bayou before exploring a marshland maze. After an upstream return, explore the tiny fishing community along Bayou Lacombe where the reflections of boats, docks, and the Louisiana sky illustrate life next to a beautiful natural treasure.
